Eva Fydrych is the Founder and Art Director of the blog Fashion Studio. Eva is a model and  fashion enthusiast who began her modeling career in London and continued to be a full-time model in Asia. Library Hotel Collection: Tell us about yourself, how did your passion for travel and hotels begin?
Eva Fydrych: I’m the Founder and Art Director of Fashion Studio Magazine, an online magazine featuring fashion, travel, and lifestyle news from all over the world. I have always enjoyed traveling so it’s hard to point a particular time when my passion for travel began. I got interested in the hotel industry while I was working in Radisson Blu Edwardian Kenilworth Hotel in London. This experience together with my interest in photography and interior design, helps a lot when writing about hotels. In December 2015, I joined NATJA (North American Travel Journalists Association) which opened a lot of new travel and networking opportunities.

LHC: How often do you travel and how long have you been an active travel influencer?
EF: I started Fashion Studio Magazine six years ago, in January 2011. My first travel articles featured some of my favorite destinations such as Singapore and Madrid, and also an interview with my friend Alexandre who is a vivid traveler and visited almost every single country in Asia. I travel a couple of times per year as my job requires a lot of moving around. Whenever I’m attending a fashion event in a new city, I always try to take a couple of days off and make sure I have enough time to see the most interesting places.

LHC: Which of our hotels did you stay in?
EF: I had a pleasure to stay at Hotel Giraffe and Library Hotel in New York City.

LHC: How did you hear about our hotels and why did you choose to stay with us?
EF:I found the Library Hotel Collection by accident, searching for a trendy place to stay in NYC. I really liked the fact that both hotels are located in the heart of Manhattan, close to restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions. I was attracted by the unique design and great customer reviews.

LHC: From your experience in our hotels, what makes the experience with us unique?
EF:

  • interesting hotel concept and great attention to detail
  • trendy design
  • excellent customer service
  • home-away-from-home atmosphere
  • central location
  • rooftop terrace
  • Evening wine & cheese reception

LHC: What will you remember most about your stay?
EF: I really enjoyed a morning cup of coffee on my private balcony overlooking Park Avenue South (Hotel Giraffe) and dining at the elegant Madison & Vine restaurant while staying at the Library Hotel. The food was beyond delicious!

LHC: Was there anything in our city that surprised you?
EF: I visit New York City quite often. I also used to live here for 3 months while studying at New York Film Academy a couple of years ago, but there is something new and exciting every time I visit the city. One of the things that surprised me last time was the new Whitney Museum of American Art which offers not only a great collection of modern art, but also breathtaking views of the Meatpacking District. Highly recommended! Every time I’m in New York, I’m also surprised by the friendliness of local people and their eagerness to talk. In comparison to other places, it’s very
easy to meet people and make friends in NYC.

LHC: Did you experience any favorite restaurants during your stay? What was your favorite local dish?
EF:I really enjoyed Madison & Vine restaurant at the Library Hotel where I had delicious chicken and salmon for dinner. The restaurant serves excellent cocktails too!

LHC: Why did you choose to visit our city?
EF: New York is a must-see destination for everyone and there is so much to do here, no matter what time of the year. It is a great city for shopping, dining, sightseeing; definitely one of the most exiting travels destinations in North America. New York is a perfect weekend getaway, only 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Toronto, where I currently live.

LHC:  What was your favorite nearby attraction?
EF: Museum at FIT is the only museum in New York City dedicated solely to the art of fashion, featuring innovative and award-winning exhibitions. I also always enjoy the vibrant 5th Avenue with lots of people and inspiring window displays.

LHC:  Was there anything you recommend as a nearby “must see” for our guests?
EF: Near the Library Hotel: Bryant Park, 5th Avenue, Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminal, Macy’s, New York Public Library, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Times Square. Near the Hotel Giraffe: Flatiron Building, Madison Square Park, Union Square, Museum at FIT, Gramercy Theatre.

LHC:  What would you recommend someone do to prepare for a trip to our city?
EF: Pack comfortable walking shoes, do a lot of research beforehand, spend at least one day without a plan – discovering lesser-known neighborhoods, small restaurants and local coffee shops. Brooklyn and Harlem offer a lot of super interesting experiences!

LHC: Did you collect any souvenirs from your travels?
EF: Usually photos are my most valuable souvenirs, but I also like buying something practical like local fashion, jewelry, art or beauty products.

LHC: What’s next on your Travel Bucket List?
EF: Learning Spanish in Panama City in February and a trip around Sicily in May. In November, I will be traveling to Taiwan to cover Taipei IN Style again. I also would love to visit Aria Hotel Budapest, another member of the Library Hotel collection, later on this yea. I have heard a lot of great things about this hotel.
