Wine Bars in NYC

Published: January 29th, 2020

New York City has over 12,000 establishments where you can enjoy a libation, but most of these 12,000 bars and restaurants have menus that are heavily focused on mixed drinks and different varieties of beer. All of our New York City hotels are lucky enough to offer a Three-Hour long Wine & Cheese Reception every evening, but if you are in search of a more robust wine list, we recommend grabbing a glass of your favorite wine, curling up and discovering our favorite places throughout the city to indulge with a Spanish red or an Italian Blanco!

Vanguard

530 2nd Avenue
Between 29th & 30th
Kips Bay, New York City

With multiple locations throughout NYC, Vanguard is one of our tops picks! Their Kips Bay location is an easy 10-minute walk from Hotel Giraffe and is perfect for a low-key night out with friends or a romantic evening.  The wine list includes a variety of many different wines from many different countries. Our favorite was a Beaujolais, called Moulin-a-vent which had a slightly floral aroma and sweet spice to it!

Vin Sur Vingt

530 2nd Avenue
Between 64th & 65th
Lincoln Square, New York City

Vin Sur Vingt has a chain of charming wine bars throughout Manhattan, and even a location opening soon in Washington, D.C., but our favorite has to be their location on Riverside Drive. Their Riverside location may be off the beaten path, but it is just steps from NYC’s Riverside Park and ABC Television Studios. In addition to their extensive wine menu, they have a variety of food options as well. Last but certainly not least, Vin Sur Vingt offers both afternoon and late-night happy hour specials! Stop by before 7:00pm and you can get any bottle of Rosé for 50% off!

Jadis

42 Rivington Street
Between Forsyth & Eldrige
Lower East Side, New York City

Jadis Wine bar has been part of the Lower East Side neighborhood since 2006 and has been popular with the locals ever since! The restaurant offers a romantic atmosphere for date nights but is still comfortable enough for solo patrons to enjoy as well. They offer a wide variety of wines, ciders, and beer. They even have a few gluten-free options as well!

Ruffian

125 East 7th Street
Between 1st Avenue & Avenue A
East Village, New York City

Ruffian is an eclectic wine bar in the East Village that offers over 250 different bottled wines and typically has at least 30 different everchanging wines sold by the glass! Ruffian has a heavy focus on natural wines and are known for their helpful attitude when describing the wines to their patrons!  In addition to this vast amount of wine, they also have a mouthwatering menu that is all prepared right behind the bar in full view of everyone. If you are looking for a hip hangout spot with fun music then this is the place for you!  Since their wine list is constantly changing, we recommend asking your server for their favorite!
