Library Hotel Collection Interview with Influencer Tamara Gruber

Published: May 16th, 2017

The Gruber family (Tamara, Glenn, and Hannah) are passionate travelers, whether it may be near there home in Rhode Island or anywhere in the world. Their latest adventure took them to Central Europe. Read further to learn how they chose to spend  48 hours in Budapest as a family.

Library Hotel Collection: Tell us about yourself, how did your passion for travel and hotels begin?
Tamara Gruber: Even as a kid I dreamed of traveling the world. As an adult, I try to visit as many new places each year as a I can. Once I had a family, I knew that not only would that not change, but I was even more inspired to show my child the world and raise her to be a global citizen.

LHC: How often do you travel and how long have you been an active travel influencer?
TG: I launched my blog four years ago and over time have become more and more involved in the travel community. Last year, I partnered with another family travel blogger to launch the only family travel podcast, Vacation Mavens, that focuses on destinations and family travel tips. Also, for the last couple of years I have been planning trips for other families as a Virtuoso Travel Advisor for Ciao Bambino, a luxury family travel agency.

LHC: Which of our hotels did you stay in?
TG: We stayed in the lovely Aria Hotel Budapest.

LHC: From your experience in our hotels, what makes the experience with us unique?
TG: The music theme and how well it is carried out is certainly unique. It is those touches, plus the amenities like the breakfast and the wine and cheese reception that really set the property apart.

LHC: What will you remember most about your stay?
TG: It is hard to forget the piano keyboard running through the lobby walkway. I especially loved this view from above, looking down from the High Note Sky Bar. Of course, the panoramic terrace offered amazing views looking out as well!

LHC: Was there anything in our city that surprised you?
I was surprised by how many millennials are attracted to Budapest as a weekend getaway.

LHC: Did you experience any favorite restaurants during your stay?
TG: Yes! The concierge recommended Tama, which was a short walk away, very close to the cathedral. The service and food were outstanding. For each course, our waiter brought a selection of wines for us to try to pair with the course and he was spot on each time.

LHC: What was your favorite nearby attraction?
TG: Walking across the Chain Bridge and up to Buda Castle was a fun experience with amazing views.

LHC: Was there anything you recommend as a nearby “must see” for our guests?
TG: Do I need to pick just one? I would say the thing that touched me most was the Shoe Memorial that we visited during our amazing Jewish History tour. Next I would say the Hungarian Parliament Building, especially if you get to see it from the water at night.

LHC: What’s next on your Travel Bucket List?
TG: Hmm. Another hard one. My daughter would say London, my husband either Japan or Chile, and I might choose Portugal.
