Summer Fun in NYC 2021 Continues

Published: July 23rd, 2021

There is so much to do this summer in NYC. The museums are open! Sporting events are back! And Restaurant Week is now over a month long! Let’s look at all the great things there is to do!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

There are some great exhibits going on in some of our most famous museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Roof Garden Commission features a very famous big friend – Big Bird from Sesame Street. Our favorite yellow bird, who is not so yellow, sits on the moon apparently observing the stars, or maybe, the New York City skyline. This 26-foot tall piece of art by Alex Da Corte even moves in the wind! Find more information on this exhibit and other great exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here.

New York Aquarium

Check out the New York Aquarium’s new “Spineless” exhibit that promotes all of our invertebrate, or spineless, friends that trek the ocean waters every day. There are so many living organisms that swim in the oceans that many of us have not seen up close, or even know about, and now is your time to get an up-close and personal tutorial about these wonderful animals. You can learn more about the Giant Pacific Octopus, one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet, all types of jellyfish, such as the Moon Jelly and Lagoon Jelly, and even some arthropods like the Japanese Spider Crab. Who knew there could be so much fun under the sea? Plan your visit to the New York Aquarium here.

US OPEN TENNIS

Lastly, tennis returns at Flushing Meadows, Queen at the US Open. Come to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and watch the best tennis players in the world compete for one of the world’s most coveted prizes, the US Open. From Serena Williams to Roger Federer to Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic… there are going to be some great matches to watch during the fortnight of August 20, 2021 to September 12, 2021. The tennis center will be operating at full capacity; so, don’t forget to buy your tickets here!

And of course, if you need help in going to any of these great events, or would like more suggestions on what to do during your Summer trip to New York City, please contact our concierge teams!
