New Fort York & Stanley Barracks

Hotel X Toronto occupies an important piece of land that is pivotal to Toronto’s history – property that was once the home of New Fort York, considered Toronto’s ‘last fort’. Renamed Stanley Barracks in 1893, this seven-building complex played a pivotal military role in the Rebellion of 1837 and World War I. The former Officers’ Barracks, the remaining historic building, is slated to open in the Summer 2019 as a “nano brewery,” a craft brewery with a very small production scale.
