Carnegie Hall – We Chose to Go to the Moon

Ever hear a 30-piece orchestra, Broadway singers, and also view stunning images and film from NASA from the moon landing? Well, Carnegie Hall will do this all of this! The world-famous hall will have two such performances, titled “We Chose to Go to the Moon,” to commemorate Neil Armstrong’s 50th Anniversary of landing on the moon. The first performance will be on July 16, which will correspond to Apollo 11’s launch into space. A second performance on July 20 will correspond to the landing on the moon. Also attending the July 16 performance will be Mark and Kali Armstrong (son and granddaughter of Neil Armstrong). They will perform “Flight of Fancy,” a song dedicated to Neil Armstrong. Brooklyn Museum – Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion

Space can also be associated with everyday life, from fashion and furniture to even architecture. July 20 will also be the opening of the Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion gallery at the Brooklyn Museum. Pierre Cardin is renowned for his Space-age, futuristic couture style in fashion, furniture, and architecture. He also ventures into jewelry and perfumes. New York Hall of Science – Apollo, A Party!

Finally, the New York Hall of Science has a special event, Apollo, A Party!, on July 20 from 7 – 10 pm. Celebrate Neil Armstrong’s landing on the moon with some space-themed food, drinks, and music. You can also stargaze and operate a replica of the Mars Rover, along with many other interactive activities. Also, check out a special screening of Apollo 11: First Steps Edition while you are there.
