I Love, You Love, We All LOVE NYC!
Published: February 9th, 2016Paris is the city of love…yeah yeah yeah. I say NYC takes the cake on this one! Think of all the movies and romantic things that can be done here and Paris has what, the Eiffel Tower? If you’re planning a weekend getaway with The One you love, there is no better place than New York! Now, because there really are so many lovey-dovey things you two can get into in this city, I’ve narrowed it down to the most special! It may seem like a lot to jam into one weekend, but hey! you two go together like peanut butter and jelly anyway so it’s just a little extra sweetness to the deal!
Here is a (modifiable) itinerary for your weekend of Love:
Friday
Check into Hotel Elysee then have us hail a cab for you to be on time to your reservation (most likely an Italian place)
Serendipity III on E 60th St
After dinner in pure romantic fashion, split a Frozen Hot Chocolate. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale fell in love over this sweet treat, I know you and your honey will fall back in love all over again!
Saturday
Brunch is a must!
Try The Boathouse in Central Park. You may recognize it from the movie 27 Dresses where Katherine Heigl’s sister stole her wedding location dreams. If you can’t squeeze in there you can try ABC Kitchen, Friend of a Farmer, Sarabeth’s, or any of the numerous places in the city.
Horse Drawn Carriage Ride
While you’re up near Central Park, might as well hop into a horse drawn carriage for a ride around the park and snuggle up under a blanket against the cold with your Prince (or Princess) Charming. Who wouldn’t want to pretend like they are Cinderella on Valentine’s Day?! Plus, my parents got engaged in one, meaning good vibes coming your way.
Skip over 1.5 blocks to where you can grab a quick bite to eat to hold you over until dinner. Cross your fingers there is a Flash Mob, like in the movie Friends With Benefits, and that its choreographed just for you from your Schnookums.
Head south to the another famously romantic spot thanks to the movie Sex and the City, this gorgeous NYC staple is more than just appealing to the eye. You can read famous love letters to one another in one of the library’s upper reading rooms! Also, a pastime of Carrie and Mr. Big’s.
LOVE Sculpture
Pictures to document your perfect weekend in New York are a must and to show the kids and grandkids one day! Saunter over to 55th and 6th to take a picture in front of the LOVE sculpture! Hello…it says the word your weekend is based around!
You’ll need to start heading back uptown before dinner so this is a perfect place to watch the sunset if you plan the time right!! I know Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl and Tom and Meg in Sleepless in Seattle prefer the Empire State Building, but honestly, this has a way better view. Steal a kiss and a picture then get on your way!
Time to relax for a minute and enjoy our Wine and Hor d’oeuvres reception from 5-8. Then get ready for dinner!
Be sure to ask the Front Desk for recommendations and reservations to wherever your heart desires. The sooner the better on this one!
Drinks & Desserts
After dinner drinks and desserts is always the sweetest way to end the night. Here is your 2nd chance for a Frozen Hot Chocolate, or really anything chocolate will do.
If you’re wanting to stay close to home, the Monkey Bar is right in your backyard (lobby)!
Sunday
Sleep in, pack, check out by 1:00 to catch your flight/train home! If you’re not leaving until later, we would be happy to check your luggage until you’re ready to head home.
Make the most of your last day in the city with a stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge! Leave your Love Locks at home though kids..they get cut off now. Or have a glass of vino at Eataly!
Come enjoy the most romantic city with us and don’t forget to share the LOVE this Valentine’s Day with the Library Collection Hotels!
