Don’t You Just Love Fall in New York?

Pack an extra sweater or two because the Library Hotel Collection is here to make sure you enjoy everything our wonderful city has to enjoy this autumn!  Just because you’re in the city doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the beautiful fall foliage of the Northeast!

Central Park: These serene 843 acres are certainly the best place to take in everything nature has to offer this season.  Take a stroll along the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir and don’t forget to visit the North Woods, one of the most secluded areas of the park featuring brooks and many turning trees.  For spectacular views of Central Park from above, try Top of the Rock or the Roof Garden Café at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

New York Botanical Garden: The garden is not only a perfect place to see even more fall foliage with a vast 250 acre forest, but also offers fun Halloween activities for the entire family!  Visit the Haunted Pumpkin Garden (September 20 – October 31) for an exciting display of jack-o-lanterns and sculptures made out of pumpkins and gourds.

The High Line: Though you won’t see the towering trees of other parks, this mile-long garden set atop an abandoned rail line still offers gorgeous blooms well into the fall months!  Enjoy a crisp day walking amongst autumn grasses, roses and sunflowers.  For a warm treat to on your visit, stop by the Blue Bottle Coffee Co for a delicious hot chocolate.

Cruise along the Hudson: Just north of NYC lies the picturesque Hudson Valley and there is no better way to experience the changing seasons here than with a trip along the river!  On weekends during the fall, see the breathtaking views of historic landmarks and the cliff-lined Palisades away from the hustle and bustle of the city.  Set sail on a Classic Harbor Line schooner from the Chelsea Piers and enjoy drinks, sandwiches, and desserts along the way.  The New York Water Taxi also offers trips leaving from the South Street Seaport with live jazz music, lunch, and complimentary wine tastings.

A county fair or hayride may come to mind when you think of an apple cider donut with, but nothing says fall in NYC quite like one with a piping cup of cider from a food truck!  These warm, handmade treats from Carpe Donut NYC are perfect for a stroll on a brisk day.  Not quite ready to give up on those summer desserts? Kettle Corn: Continue to delight your taste buds with another fall treat from Kettle Corn NYC! Pumpkin, it’s not just for pies anymore: Why wait  until Thanksgiving to enjoy a pumpkin sweet?  If you’ll be walking the Brooklyn Bridge or exploring DUMBO , stop in One Girl Cookie for a pumpkin whoopie pie with cream cheese filling. Halloween:
If you’re staying on October 31st, don’t forget to pack your costume!  Watch the fun and spooky get ups go by or join in the festivities with the annual Village Halloween Parade beginning at 7:00pm on Sixth Avenue at Canal Street.

Thanksgiving: The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the perfect way to endmacys thanksgiving day parade fall and kick the holiday season off!  Watch the balloons take to the sky in the morning or visit 77th & 81st Streets between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue the evening before to watch them take shape!  Looking for a delicious Thanksgiving meal while in town?
