Celebrating Booktoberfest in NYC!

Published: October 2nd, 2019

October is National Book Month and also Oktoberfest! We have some great ideas for your trip to New York City and how you can celebrate both while you are here.

Booktoberfest

Celebrate National Book Month and Oktoberfest at one of our New York City hotels in the Library Hotel Collection. Whether you rather be in the heart of Times Square at Casablanca Hotel, or closer to Central Park at Hotel Elysée, or down the street from the New York Public Library at Library Hotel, or stay north of the Flat Iron district at Hotel Giraffe; we are all celebrating Booktoberfest!

With a two-night minimum stay you can enjoy the following:

  • 4 literary-themed beers
  • Our signature Library Hotel Collection tote bag
  • $25 gift card to the iconic Strand bookstore
  • New York City brewery map to some great hot spots
  • Donation of $10 for every package booked to Imagination Library to help place books into the hands of children

Here is a link to the package for each hotel:

Here are some great things to do to celebrate Booktoberfest!

OktoberFest NYC

Do you love beer? Yes? Then head down to the South Street Seaport and grab a few brews at OktoberFest NYC. Every Saturday and Sunday in October, ending on October 20, the South Street Seaport will have food, games, entertainment, and of course, the most important thing, BEER. You will find plenty of authentic German beer and traditional Oktoberfest food, such as brats and giant pretzels, throughout the grounds. Admission is free, while steins of beer and food begin at $10. There is even a stein holding contest for all of those professionals out there. Find out more information on their website: Oktoberfest NYC

Bierhaus NYC Oktoberfest

If you need something a tad closer to any of the New York City Library Hotel Collection properties, then Bierhaus NYC Oktoberfest is the place to go as it is steps away from Grand Central. With ties to the famous Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Bierhaus NYC has everything: six pig roasts, Kidtoberfest for kids every Sunday (kids under 10 eat free off of the kid’s menu and enjoy Oktoberfest themed goodie bags), Rosa Weisn (Munich’s Gay Oktoberfest), and even a bratwurst eating championship. Check out their website for specific dates of the events and more information: Bierhaus NYC Oktoberfest

New York Public Library

After you have thrown back a few beers… or maybe before… you should head to the New York Public Library. On your way to marvel at this beautiful, iconic building, you will pass Patience and Fortitude, the famous lions guarding the entrance. You can grab a book and lounge in one of their many reading rooms, or simply enjoy one of their fascinating exhibits. With over 53 million items on the grounds, this library is the third largest library in the world! Plan your visit here: New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building

The Morgan Library & Museum

The Morgan Library & Museum is every book lover’s dream. This museum contains thousands of rare literary and historical manuscripts, early printed books, Americana, and many pieces from the twentieth century. There are always great exhibitions at the Morgan Library & Museum that focus on famous authors and artists in history. Find more information on their website: The Morgan Library & Museum

Surely, whatever you choose to do, you will have a great Booktoberfest in New York City!
