Library Hotel and Aria Hotel Budapest Co-Sponsor 2015 Haiku Challenge!
Published: April 15th, 2015It is our favorite time of the year again…National Poetry Month! With our 3rd Annual Haiku Challenge under way, we have already received a number of fantastic entries. If you haven’t already, you absolutely must check out the competition! We’re truly hoping that if this year is anything like our challenge in 2013 and 2014, there are many more beautiful, creative, and insightful haiku to come!
We are beyond thrilled to be co-sponsoring our 2015 Haiku Challenge with the newest member of the Library Hotel Collection: Aria Hotel Budapest!
Just like the Library Hotel is dedicated to Book Lovers, the Aria Hotel Budapest is dedicated to Music Lovers! Aria Hotel Budapest, which just opened in March 2015, is an architectural masterpiece featuring four wings of musically-themed guestrooms and suites commemorating iconic artists and composers in the opera, classical, contemporary and jazz genres such as Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra, Mozart and Jimi Hendrix along with Hungarian artists Bela Bartok and Zoltán Kodály. Since we are celebrating our mutual love of the arts, our participants’ haiku must include one of our favorite topics: books, music, or travel.
In case you need a little extra refresher: a haiku, usually composed of three lines, conveys the poet’s message in a few simple, carefully chosen words. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third line has 5 syllables. Only your first three entries will be considered in the challenge, so make sure you submit your most creative haiku! On May 4th our favorite entries, hand-selected by a panel of poets, professors and literary professionals, will be revealed in the Winner’s Circle on Facebook. If yours is included in the Winner’s Circle, you will have until 12PM on May 8th to tell everyone you know to “Like” your haiku. The haiku that receives the most “Likes” on the Library Hotel Facebook page, will win an once-in-a-lifetime Grand Prize!
