Published: October 13th, 2014Getting around the Big Apple can often seem confusing, however the Library Hotel Collection is happy to assist you whether you’re traveling from the airport or to a Broadway show! There are many different transportation options available. Our front desk agents are very helpful in recommending the best route for you, and the best method of transportation to your destination.
Traveling to the city from the airport:
Yellow Taxi
A NYC yellow taxi is a convenient option for transportation from any of the NYC airports. Traveling to and from LaGuardia is a metered fare of approximately $35.00 not including tip, tax, and tolls. Traveling to and from JFK Airport is a flat rate of $52.00, which again does not include tip, tax and tolls. Finally, traveling to and from Newark International Airport will start at a metered fare around $60.00 not including tip, tax and tolls. Please note that a $17.50 surcharge is added for all trips to Newark. Keep in mind that these prices can vary greatly during rush hour from 4-7pm on the weekdays.
Private Car
Reserving a private town car, SUV, or limousine is the quickest and most reliable method of traveling to and from the airport. Simply collect your luggage and the driver will be waiting for you at baggage claim. Prices vary depending on the airport and hotel from which you are traveling. The best way to reserve a car or inquire about prices is to call one of our hotels. Our front desk concierge would be happy to assist you with the prices and reservation details.
Traveling in NYC
Subway
The subway is an inexpensive and convenient way to travel anywhere in the city. Simply visit one of the many stations to buy a ticket from a kiosk. The card itself costs $1.00 and each ride costs $2.50. If you are heading north take an Uptown, Bronx, or Queens bound train. If you are traveling south take a Downtown or Brooklyn bound train. For more detailed directions just stop by the front desk and inquire with a concierge. Additionally, visit HopStop.com to help with transit directions, and estimated travel times.
Yellow Taxi
Taxis are also a fast and easy way to get around the city. Our bellman would be happy to assist you with hailing a taxi. Please allow 10 extra minutes to get a taxi during rush hour, 4-7pm on the weekdays. The fee is $2.50 upon entry, and either fifty cents per minute or every fifth of a mile, whichever comes first.
Uber
Uber is a popular mobile application for smartphones that makes getting a ride easier than ever before! Simply download the app and create an account to get started. Once you select which type of car you would prefer, either luxury or standard model SUV or sedan, Uber automatically detects your location and sends a driver to you. It provides you with a map of where your driver is currently, his reviews by other Uber users, and when he will be arriving at your location. Save on your first ride with the Uber Promo Code!
