New York International Children’s Film Festival

The New York International Children’s Film Festival is an Academy Award® qualifying festival. It was started in 1997 to support the creation of intelligent films for children and teens. This four-week festival contains approximately 100 short and feature films, filmmaker Q&As, programs, parties, and premieres. All audience members vote on the Festival-winning films and the winners are eligible for consideration at the annual Academy Awards®. The festival starts on February 24 and runs through March 18, 2018.

Orchid Show

This year’s Orchid Show at the New York Botanical Garden will showcase thousands of orchids in a series of installations crafted by acclaimed Belgium florist Daniel Ost. Daniel’s work of art will complement the architecture of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory while creating a sensational spectacle of color, form, and texture.

Enjoy music, tours, and special performances, while cash bars will offer beer, wine, and cocktails for purchase during Orchid Evenings throughout the run of the exhibition. The show opens on Saturday, March 3, 2018, and runs through Sunday, April 22, 2018.

Holi in the City

Holi is an Indian Festival that takes place each year to celebrate the coming of Spring, the joy of friendship, and equality for all. The Festival of Color is celebrated throughout the world and is the happiest day party in NYC. This year’s Holi in the City is on Saturday, March 17th and Saturday, March 31st.

No need to dress up, just make sure to wear white as you will leave very colorful. Enjoy delicious food and musical performances.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

St. Patrick’s Day occurs annually on March 17, the date marked by the death of Saint Patrick, Ireland’s most celebrated patron saint. The festivities surrounding this date specifically commemorate Saint Patrick, and the subsequent arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

The Parade starts at 11am at 44th Street, marching up Fifth Avenue—past St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 50th Street—all the way to 79th Street. It finishes around 5:00pm at the American Irish Historical Society at East 80th Street.

What better way to celebrate spring than by adoring blooming flowers?

During Macy’s 44th Annual welcome to spring, admire their breathtaking floral display with blooms, fantasy flowers, and lush plants from around the world. Each year millions of guests visit the two-week exhibition as the store blooms with themed events, gardens and more. This year’s theme is “Once Upon A Springtime.”

The Flower Show is March 25 through April 6, 2018.
