We recently had the honor of welcoming two amazing Jazz artists, Benny Golson and Randy Brecker to the Aria Hotel Budapest. As a musically inspired hotel, we found their presence to be nothing less than inspiring. We wanted to share with you a little bit of background on these Jazz marvels and their trip to Budapest!
This past summer my colleague and I had the pleasure of staying in the wonderful city of Budapest for over a month to assist the team at the Aria Hotel. Our trip consisted mainly of long days in the hotel followed by delicious dinners, usually paired with a great glass of Hungarian wine. We both consider ourselves foodies and we quickly fell in love with the restaurants and service of the local dining scene. Below is a list of our top picks for dining on your next trip to the Aria Hotel.
A very special and unique position demands a very special person to fill the role. For guests at the Aria Hotel, our Musical Director, Kornél Magyar, is an ambassador of music and culture, and all things Hungarian. A perfect fit for the position, even Kornél’s last name means “Hungarian.” As a performing artist and music critic from Hungary, Kornél studies mainly traditional and classical music of India and Indonesia. Since 2001, he has been performing and teaching ethnic music genres, but now as Musical Director, he oversees all musical programming and guest experiences at the hotel. He curates the hotel’s music library collection, uses his relationships throughout the city to liaison partnerships with music venues in the neighboring area and coordinates musical experiences for our guests.
It is our favorite time of the year again…National Poetry Month! With our 3rd Annual Haiku Challenge under way, we have already received a number of fantastic entries. If you haven’t already, you absolutely must check out the competition! We’re truly hoping that if this year is anything like our challenge in 2013 and 2014, there are many more beautiful, creative, and insightful haiku to come!
Greetings from New York City to all our friends, family, and fans from around the world! We are so pleased to bring to you the Library Hotel Collection ’s new blog. It is our hope that we will be able to use this space to share some great advice with travelers and help everyone have the travel experience they always dreamed of.
While our team has always loved sharing our passion for New York City, I am excited to let you know we will also from time to time be sharing news about a few other great destinations. That’s because the Library Hotel Collection is growing! Some of you may be aware that about ten years ago, we launched a new hotel concept called the Aria Hotel
in Prague, Czech Republic. Just like the Library Hotel is dedicated to literature, the Aria Hotel was inspired by music, with each room honoring a distinctive musical style, artist, or composer. More than just a great concept, the Aria Hotel in Prague offers the highest standards of service. Just like the Library Hotel Collection properties in New York, the Aria is consistently ranked among the top hotels in Prague on TripAdvisor. We are now building the new Aria Hotel Budapest, which is slated to open by the end of the year. In just a few weeks we hope to launch our new website, but in the meantime, you can get a sneak peak of our sample rooms by visiting www.LibraryHotelCollection.com. By the end of 2015, we also hope to launch our new Hotel X Toronto. We will be sharing more details with you as our work there progresses.
