New York City for Veggie Lovers!

Published: January 6th, 2016

We’ve shared our Top 5 Indian and French restaurants in NYC, as well as our favorite burgers and food trucks, so we thought this would be a perfect time to dedicate a post to our vegetarian guests!  Amanda, our resident veggie lover, was kind enough to review her Top 5 places for an herbivore in NYC-

New York City is home to some of the best food from around the world, so it’s no surprise there will be no shortage of vegetarian restaurants, but if you’re looking for a menu that offers more than your typical veggie burger served at your local diner (but trust me there are decent ones out there!), I have the spots for you!

Candle 79 is a more upscale dining experience. Located on the Upper East Side the price range is what you would expect of any fine dining experience, but don’t let that sway you. Candle 79 is perfect if you’re looking for a nice romantic outing or prefer a more intimate dining experience. With two floors that are usually packed the menu ranges from delicious all vegan appetizers to main courses and delicious desserts! They offer gluten free as well!

I personally recommend the Seitan Piccata, and Polenta fries to start!

“Organic plant-based cuisine. Kosher certified. No refined sugars, preservatives, dairy, eggs or animal products whatsoever

If you’re looking for a more casual and relaxed setting Angelica’s Kitchen is the place to go. They offer a wide variety ranging from soups and salads, sandwiches, entrees, gluten free (be sure to ask!) plus brunch on Saturday and Sunday!

My personal favorite is the Tempeh Reuben Sandwich!

“Everything is vegetarian, a lot is accidentally vegan, just ask!”

Vegetarian fast food! But don’t let that fool you. The place is tiny, but good things come in small packages. The line is typically out the door, and it’s worth the wait! The Superiority burgers are on the small side, so order 2 if you brought your appetite! They have a limited number of items on their menu ranging from the highly sought after Superiority Burger, to the meatless Sloppy Dave! Be sure to order their gelato! You will not be disappointed!

100 percent vegan!

There are multiple locations throughout the city with table and counter seating. Blossom Du Jour is the place to go to if you’re looking for a quick bite. My personal faves are The Midtown Melt, and The Skyscraper. They have a wide variety of sandwiches, wraps, breakfast options served all day and gluten free items. Not to mention juices, smoothies, and desserts! It’s more than what you would expect from a vegan “fast food” spot!

Terri NYC-$– 60 W 23rd St & 100 Maiden Ln http://terrinyc.comTerriNYC (2)

With just 2 locations, but a Midtown East location opening soon! Terri NYC is another fantastic plant based food joint if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat. I recommend the Terri “meatball” sub, and the sweet potato wedges. So filling! Their menu is also diverse with, juices, smoothies, wraps, breakfast, salads, soups and sides! And of course dessert!
