Family Friendly Fun in NYC!

New York is the perfect city for families to visit, especially for those traveling with youngsters! The Big Apple offers an endless supply of kid friendly activities to keep them entertained! Here are some of our favorite NYC spots to create family memories!

Madison Square Park

Not only does Madison Square Park have plenty of grassy areas for kids to run around during the summer, but they also have a pretty neat playground! The Madison Square Park playground is equipped with swings, a small slide and a pretty cool jungle gym. During the warmer months they even have a splash pad for the kids to cool off!  The playground pays tribute to one of NYC’s fallen NYPD officers, Moira Ann Smith, who served the surrounding neighborhood.  The Madison Square Park is only a 2 minute walk from Hotel Giraffe and is open daily for families from 7 am to dusk.

 

 

Virtual Reality World in NYC

VR World

Steps away from the Empire State Building is the Country’s most futuristic attraction, Virtual Reality World! Visitors can transport into a 3-D world and experience the sights, sounds and feel of another dimension. Standard ticketing starts at $39.00 for a 2 hour experience and gives you access to over 50 different experiences. VR World is geared to children 7 and older, but can be utilized by parents as well!  For parents who would rather watch their kids have fun, you can make use of the full bar!

 

SeaGlass Carousel in Battery Park City

 SeaGlass Carousel

After exploring the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, you have to bring the kids for a relaxing ride on the SeaGass Carousel in Battery Park! This carousel is made up of 30 massive fish that have color changing LED lights inside of them. The lighting inside the carousel mimics the bioluminescence found deep in the ocean. Pick your favorite fish and enjoy the lights and sounds of the sea!

The carousel is open 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm and tickets are just $5.00. For the most up to date info about weather related closures, please check their Facebook page.

The Bronx Zoo: Treetop Adventure

 For the adventure seekers there is no better place in NYC to visit than the Bronx Zoo’s Treetop Adventure. The park offers aerial obstacle courses, tight rope walking and even a dual zip line, all within the forest canopy. They offer a variety of courses ranging from easy to difficult. All guest must be 7 years old and weigh at least 50 lbs.  Please visit their website directly for more information on pricing and restrictions on who can participate.

Museum of Math

I know, I know, who wants to learn on vacation… but I promise, MoMath is well worth the visit. The Museum of Math feautures hands-on experiences that teach kids about Science, Technology, Engineering and you guessed it MATH! Visitors can solve puzzles galore, hop, jump and skip on a light-up floor and even ride a square wheeled tricycle! The MoMath is open 364 days a year. The hours may fluctuate so we recommend checking their page for the most up to date information!
