Family-Friendly Restaurants in NYC!

Published: December 29th, 2015

Between visiting museums, zoos and other attractions in NYC with the family, you have to take a break to eat! There’s always a diner or burger joint around the corner(and plenty of snacks in our clubrooms!), but there are also options that offer adults a bit more variety.  We’ve already recommended Hotel Giraffe’s family-friendly Italian restaurant, Bread & Tulips, but the list doesn’t stop there! Emily, the Sales & Events Manager at Hotel Giraffe, has the best insights into the perfect family dining experience! Here are her favorite places to recommend to our guests:

Blue Smoke

116 E. 27th Street (bet. Lexington & Park Avenue South) / www.bluesmoke.com

What kid (and adult!) doesn’t love to eat with their hands?! With an $11 kid’s meal that includes finger licking baby back ribs, a drink and dessert, Blue Smoke is a great choice for the little ones! A casual, atmosphere in a large restaurant also gives parents the peace of mind if their little ones are a bit more outgoing during the outing.

EXTRA TIP: For each kid’s meal that is purchased, Blue Smoke donates $1 to a local, child centered, non-profit organization that is dedicated to enriching the lives of NYC youth. One of the most recent organizations they have worked with is ESNYC – Edible Schoolyard NYC.

CowGirl

519 Hudson Street / (212) 633-1133 / info@cowgirlnyc.com

A Southwestern spot that allows kids to eat out of a Frito Bag! Sign me up! This kids’ menu offers an extensive selection from the famous Frito Pie ($7 – Mentioned above) to old favorites like “Corndoggies” ($6) & a pulled pork sandwich ($6). After all that, the kids better have room for dessert (not that they would skip something sweet!)

EXTRA TIP: The Baked Potato ice cream sundae looks like a baked potato but tastes like a hot fudge sundae and it is great for sharing!

‘Wichcraft

Multiple locations in NYC / www.wichcraft.com

With 10 locations in Manhattan alone, this is a great stop for picky and more adventurous eaters looking for familiar comfort food in an NYC neighborhood of their parents’ choosing. Grab a unique sandwich for the adults (Tuna Sandwich with preserved lemon-olive tapenade, & aioli on ciabatta roll for less than $10) and one for the kids (chunky PB&J ($4) or traditional grilled cheese ($4)).

EXTRA TIP: The Flatiron location (11 East 20th Street) features a Rooftop Deck! Enjoy your sandwich, quality family time and some fresh air while surrounded by spectacular NYC views!

Bell Book & Candle

bellbook

141 West 10th Street (between Greenwich Ave & Waverly Place) / 212-414-2355 /info@bbandcnyc.com

The West Village eatery doesn’t have a traditional children’s menu, but with a menu that features a burger with a “rooftop pickle” ($14) & warm pretzel sticks ($7), who needs a “Kid’s Menu”!

EXTRA TIP: Children can ask for a sneak peek of the rooftop garden, where most of the produce is grown – hence “Rooftop Pickle”. This exclusive trip may just convince the kids to eat their veggies.
